Ex-defence chief suggested martial law to President Yoon, says South Korean interior minister
South Korean Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun resigned after allegedly suggesting martial law to President Yoon Suk Yeol. President Yoon declared martial law, citing North Korean threats, and deployed troops to parliament. An impeachment motion against Yoon is scheduled for a parliamentary vote on Saturday. Choi Byung-huk has been selected as the new defense minister.
